The Herbal Blends in livethesource Multi-Vitamin Mineral and Herbal Supplement
The herbal compounds in our livethesource daily Multi-Vitamin, Mineral and Herbal Supplement are a unique combination of herbal food concentrates which have been micro-nano encapsulated for greater efficiency. Many of these herbs have been used for centuries with great success in traditional healing. They have also been extensively researched in numerous studies for their unique healing attributes as well as for their ability to help with specific areas of health. Please see references cited below.
Energy levels are enhanced with Eleuthero Root, Oat Seed, and Skullcap. These herbs also help the body to better deal with stress. Body defenses are assisted with the herbs Astragalus, Elderberry, and Rose Hips. The heart and circulatory system are supported with Hawthorne Berry, Green Tea, and Ginger.
Interestingly, each of the nine herbs helps improve the benefits of each other. Used together, the herbs are much stronger acting than if taken individually. What is also important is that these herbal concentrates act as strong synergists to the vitamins and minerals. The phyto-nutrients contained within the herbs, including anti-oxidants, flavonoids, enzymes, saponins, trace minerals, and more, all help maximize the health boosting functions of vitamins and minerals.
The majority of the herbs in our livethesource™ daily multivitamin are recognized as adaptogens. Adaptogens are a special class of compounds that have the ability to help decrease stress and recreate balance within the body. The term is used to describe these herbs being able to help the body literally adapt to and effectively deal with whatever problem it has encountered. Adaptogens are often labeled as tonics. One of the best known of these herbs is Eleuthero, and it acts as an adaptogen by helping to bolster the glandular system. Astragalus also has this effect. As specific adaptogens, Hawthorne helps the circulatory system, Oat Seed focuses on the nervous system, and Elderberry is specific for immunity. The adaptogens in our daily multivitamin create a very solid foundation for benefitting the body as a whole which then allows the system to more ably heal itself. The herbs are listed in decreasing formulation order.
ASTRAGALUS ROOT EXTRACT: Astragalus is a well known herb used in traditional Chinese medicine. It is commonly used for enhancing the body's natural defense mechanisms and replenishing vital energy. The root is an excellent remedy that supports immune-compromised systems by strengthening immune markers and tonifying immune cells. Astragalus has very potent antiviral ability and has shown an ability to help build up the body's resistance to infection caused from viruses such as the common cold and influenza. Astragalus also supports the body's ability to absorb nutrients by stimulating metabolism and digestion. Therefore it can strengthen the body's response to stress and help improve overall energy levels. Astragalus is often used in soup stocks in Chinese cooking as a way to add this vital herb to daily dietary intake.
OAT SEED: Oat seed is a prime remedy for improving the physical constitution. When used in extract form, it helps to reduce anxiety and depression, nervous insomnia, and exhaustion without any common side effects typical of drug treatments. Oat seed is one of the best and safest compounds for enhancing both physical and mental endurance. Oat seed has properties that can relieve mental fatigue by cultivating relaxation, which in turn, reduces the stress levels of the nervous system. By helping to relieve the stress, oat seed allows for better relaxation and restfulness, which allows for increased energy production later. Oat Seed's ability to balance the nervous system is a key component that creates a better internal environment in the body to foster better sleep.
HAWTHORNE BERRY: Hawthorne Berry is largely used in Europe for the beginning stages of cardiovascular disease and is regarded as a safe and effective herbal treatment. Hawthorne Berry is a rich source of antioxidants that help to scavenge the free radicals known to damage cell membranes, alter DNA, and often cause cell death. The protective and healing properties of Hawthorne Berry have been known to strengthen the heart, normalize blood pressure, strengthen blood vessels, and help promote normal cholesterol levels. Hawthorne Berry has been studied as a treatment for congestive heart failure and cardiac arrhythmia has been shown to be beneficial for these conditions. Hawthorne Berry has also proved to help increase blood flow to the heart, a key element associated with preventing future heart problems. Hawthorne is excellent for everyday use.
Below is a list of the numerous naturally occurring compounds contained in Hawthorne Berry which all account for its special health qualities:
ELEUTHERO ROOT: Also known as Siberian ginseng and other names like Touch Me Not, this herb is found in it native land of Siberia. For years this herb has been made into tonics and used for as an all-natural and safe performance booster. As shown in many studies, Eleuthero root has the ability to help maintain overall good health and support the body's ability to resist mental and physical stress. It helps re-invigorate the body's major endocrine glands, as it is a very powerful adaptogenic herb. Adaptogens are substances that help recreate equilibrium in the body. Eleuthero Root helps support concentration and boosts focus and immune function, therefore working synergistically with the body to enhance energy levels. It is believed that Eleuthero helps strengthen three major glands, the Hypothalamus, the Pituitary, and the Adrenals. By this action it then provides a boost for the rest of the endocrine glands to perform at a higher level.
GREEN TEA: Green Tea is a strong anti-oxidant that is rich in catechin polyphenols. Green Tea is different from other teas as it is not made from fermented leaves, but instead is steamed preventing oxidation of the compounds. Therefore, the active constituents are more beneficial: studies have shown Green Tea to have positive results in lowering LDL cholesterol levels and helping to prevent blood clot formation by improving blood viscosity (the level of resistance blood has in flowing through the blood vessels). The result demonstrated in clinical research is a lower number of heart attack incidents and strokes that may otherwise occur due to the abnormal formation of blood clots. Green Tea has bacteria destroying properties thus making it a good immune system booster. The Green utilized in livethesource contains no caffeine. Green Tea has been extensively studied by several leading cancer researchers and has shown much promise in both the prevention and treatment of cancer. This versatile herb has also been found to be capable of increasing metabolic rate making it a staple in most natural weight loss formulas.
GINGER: Ginger has been used in medicines all over the world as far back as 2,500 years ago. Research has identified over 650 individual compounds in Ginger. This impressive list includes the well known ascorbic acid, caffeic acid, capsaicin, beta-sitosterol, beta-carotene, curcumin, lecithin, limonene, selenium and tryptophan. Ginger can be classified as a carminative in addition to an antiflammatory and diaphoretic herb. As a carminative, ginger helps to soothe the intestines and relieves the discomfort from gas buildup by removing the gases from the digestive tract. Ginger is also good for the cardiovascular system as it has a blood-thinning property and is considered to be a heart tonic. Studies have shown it to help reduce the effect of blood platelet clumping which can cause plaque build-up on the arterial walls. Decreasing plaque is a key to maintaining the proper function of the heart and blood vessels. Ginger also has anti-inflammatory properties and helps to reduce pain and swelling common to arthritis, headaches and general body aches. Ginger is also well known for relieving nausea and motion sickness.
ROSE HIP: Rose hip is a great source of Vitamin C and a very good herbal tool in assisting the body's fight against disease and infection. Studies have shown Rose Hip to be beneficial to the circulatory system, respiratory system, the thymus gland (the master gland of immunity), and as a blood cleanser. Rose Hip is also known for speeding the healing processes in bruising and skin irritations. Rose Hip contains vitamins C, E, and K in addition to calcium, citric acid, iron, niacin, phosphorus, tannin, Vitamin A, B1 and B2 as well as Vitamin P. Rose Hip, when used as a tonic, has been known to help strengthen the organs in the body. With all its properties and veritable treasure trove of nutrients, Rose Hip is a natural synergistic support to the stresses the body faces on a daily basis. Rose Hips are an excellent source of bioflavonoids, compounds that not only several benefits, but also improve the effectiveness of Vitamin C. In fact, the level of bioflavonoids in citrus fruits is much higher that the level of Vitamin C.
ELDERBERRY: Used to help fight the flu epidemic in Panama in 1995, Elderberry is known for its antioxidant abilities, enhancing the immune system, improving cholesterol levels, and promoting heart health. Elderberry helps fight bacterial and viral infections and is used frequently in the treatment for coughs, and colds. Many studies have shown Elderberry to improve immune function by elevating the production of cytokines in response to foreign invaders. Cytokines are proteins that work as messengers of the immune system and their job is to help regulate the body's immune response by directing white blood cells where they are required. In addition to immune enhancement, Elderberry helps improve vision and has shown some ability to help lower LDL cholesterol. The anti-oxidant ability in Elderberry far surpasses antioxidant properties found in Vitamin C and Vitamin E.
SKULLCAP: Skullcap is known as an antispasmodic herb par excellence. It can be used as a sedative, and can act as a nervine due to its soothing properties on the central nervous system. Skullcap can strengthen the function of the brain by improving blood flow and by acting as a membrane stabilizer. Skullcap offers a soothing influence in nervous excitability and is used in the treatments for ailments that cause muscle spasms and convulsions. Because of its actions for aiding cerebral function, the ability to focus and concentrate is also enhanced with Skullcap. Skullcap can help improve sleep patterns and is also able to help relieve premenstrual stress.
